Space Settlement

Space Settlement
My father was one of the first men
who mined the moon for materials
(How I loved to say their names when I was young- aluminium, titanium, iron, silicon) to make gigantic tubular wheels that weightlessly
For ever float revolving gently in the vastness of space

When I was ten, my father came to live in this space settlement
What a joy, what unbridled pride my parents felt to be among the chosen
To be ole saviours of the human race
Supplying it with solar energy, essential
As its precious stock of oil and coal ran out.
My only brother and I, we did not doubt we would be happy here.

We were the chose children of chosen parents.
Near the low gravity hub of the wheel
The sapphire swimming pool was our perpetual delight
Diving , we fell slowly, light as winged seeds,
Performing effortlessly aerial acrobatics
No Earth-bound Olympic Champion could ever rival.
From the bottom pushing off we dived upwards exulting
Emerging like dolphins, frisky as flying fish.

For a year or more we never wearied of our aquatic games
Then suddenly without apparent reason, we did grow weary.
Each day the same hours of reflected sunlight the same temperature each night,
Each day not even a breeze. And worst of all no sky, no clouds,
No beast bird butterfly. The same dull food each day-
Wheaten bread maize, fish, rice, vegetables, soya beans.

I began to hate my new friends, even my own brother.
We were always quarrelling.
I longed for my old friends, to play the games we played.
Talk about familiar things and happenings.

Longed, Longed for my farmer life.

Exiled for ever, I can never return.

Each night now I dream I am home again.

OPINION:
New life is wanted by anybody but it doesn’t mean it can be enjoyed b them. Although you have everything you need but you are separated from other humans, you will feel that you are life is isolated. It will be colourless and hopeless because human are social creature. They need to interact and socialize with other human. Life is not only for what you have but also for what you enjoyed. Happily life means what you create not what you have.
But overall this poem is a good poem

May 22 Diary

May 22, 2010
Today I woke up early in the morning and had a private lesson… After my private lesson was finished about 2 o’clock I went to Monique’s house to do our computer assignment. We did it seriously and we enjoyed it. After we finished it, I went and got ready to go to Tony Roma’s to meet my old friends from SMN. We gathered at Tony Roma’s at about 7 pm. We had really enjoyed it. Laughing and talking cheerfully. We had talked a lot even unnecessary things because we had not met each other for a long time. We finished having dinner at Tony Roma’s at about 9.30 pm. Today was a long and tiring day but I felt really excited.

Prediction Life in 2025

In this essay I would like to tell you about my prediction life in 2025. In my prediction there will be negative and positive sides. I believe the worst thing is about global warming.

In my prediction the positive side is there is going to be a modern new things and later there would be things that make our life easier both in the way of communicating and living. Maybe there will be a robot that helps us clean our house which in cheap budget? Or maybe there is a touch screen table? Or flying cars? Or in 2025 we can have a trip to Mars, Venus, or even Saturn? But behind all this positive prediction, there must be a negative side.

Global warming is going to be the worst problem. Ice melts in very rapid speed, flood everywhere, earthquake, volcanic eruption. Beside that there will be water crisis which would bring the land to drought. After the land is drought there would be famine everywhere because there are no fertile lands to grow crops.

All that negative side could happen! Imagine if you have no water to bath, no water to drink. Do you think you can survive with that condition?

Some impossibilities living in 2025 is:
-We can't see the endangered animal
-We can't breathe the fresh air because it is all polluted
-No traditional things
-Not much forest we can see

For me life in 2025 would get worse. Perhaps my prediction is wrong. In fact life in 2025 is much better than now. Some predictions can be right or wrong. I’m just trying to say whatever the condition is in 2025 we just need to be ready and prepared!

Reported Speech

A few days ago, Mr. Zhou asked Mrs. Zhou if she would like to go to town with him. They could go at about ten, after he had finished putting up those shelves. Mrs. Zhou said that that was fine because she had some house cleaning to do but she would come along. She told him that she had to get Weiwen a present for his birthday and a pair of shoes for herself. She then asked if they could leave a little later than ten, because she needed to finish the washing and cook lunch for Weiwen.

Mr. Zhou protested and said that she did too much for that boy. He also asked if he was old enough to get his own lunch. He argued that when he had been Weiwen’s age, his parents had expected him to do his share of the housework. Mrs. Zhou said that had been 20 years ago. Things had changed since then. Mr. Zhou added that he agreed with her and said that they had changed for the worse and commented that children had become spoiled and had too many things and they didn’t appreciate their parents. Mrs. Zhou disagreed and said that Weiwen is a sensitive boy who gets easily upset but he does appreciate them. Mr. Zhou added that when they buy him toys and said they would go to town at eleven, if it suits him better.
